A recent study by experts has shown that a group of 6 foods considered healthy can significantly reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Those who adhere to a healthy diet with these foods have a nearly 20% lower risk of developing cardiovascular disease.

The study was conducted on 245,000 individuals and collected data from the Prospective Urban Rural Epidemiology (PURE) program, published in the European Heart Journal. PURE is a large-scale data collection program from residents in 17 countries.

By analyzing the food consumed by this group of people and comparing it to the risk of cardiovascular disease, the results show that those who regularly consume a group of 6 foods have a lower risk of developing and dying from heart disease compared to those who do not focus on these foods.

The 6 foods listed in the study are fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes, fish, and pure milk.

These are healthy foods recommended by many experts worldwide. Those who focus on these 6 food groups have significantly better cardiovascular health. Their risk of death is 30% lower, and their risk of stroke, heart disease, and myocardial infarction is respectively 19%, 18%, and 14% lower.

The characteristics of this group of foods are freshness, low fat content, low preservatives, and not being processed foods, all of which are homemade and simple. Although not within the scope of this study, these are also food groups that many scientists recommend. The American Heart Association (AHA) also provides recommendations regarding this food group. However, the important thing that this study brings is that the cardiovascular health benefits will be maximized if these 6 foods are consumed in the daily diet.

Another issue that experts recommend is dairy products and foods made from dairy, such as cheese. Although they are rich in nutrients and good for health, they should also be consumed moderately. It is because consuming too much dairy can lead to weight gain and inflammation in the body. Moreover, canned milk contains many preservatives. In Vietnam, natural milk sources are limited, so you can focus on the other food groups and supplement with plant-based milk.
