Gold and USD prices fell in the days leading up to the Lunar New Year.

Gold ring prices also turned down. Specifically, Bao Tin Minh Chau Jewelry Joint Stock Company listed gold ring prices at 86.4 – 88.05 million VND per tael for buying and selling, a decrease of 100,000 VND per tael.

Phu Quy Group listed gold ring prices at 86 – 88 million VND per tael.

At the same time, the world gold price was listed at 2,756 USD/ounce, up 6 USD/ounce compared to yesterday.

In the currency market, on January 24, the State Bank of Vietnam listed the central exchange rate at 24,332 VND/USD, down 4 VND/USD from yesterday. This is the fifth consecutive day of decline for the central exchange rate.

As a result, USD prices in banks and the free market also plummeted. Vietcombank traded USD at 24,980 VND for buying and 25,340 VND for selling, an 80 VND decrease per USD from yesterday. This is the sixth consecutive day of decline for bank USD prices.

Many other commercial banks, such as BIDV, Sacombank, Agribank, TPBank, and others, also simultaneously lowered USD transaction prices. Some banks were selling USD for as low as 25,290 VND.

Bank USD prices have fallen sharply in recent days, losing nearly 300 VND in just over a week.

In the free market, foreign exchange counters quoted USD prices at 25,470 VND for buying and 25,570 VND for selling, stable compared to yesterday. Currently, there is only a few hundred VND difference between bank and free market USD prices.
