The day she left for her wedding, she also left her homeland behind
Xài’s father, Mr. Phạm Văn Hoan, her mother, Mrs. Vũ Thị Xắc, and her older brother, Mr. Phạm Ngọc Khải, lived together in Kiên Giang. Life was a struggle, but they never had any conflicts.
Around the year 1960, Mrs. Xắc gave birth to another child, but unfortunately, the baby passed away. Not long after, Mrs. Xắc also passed away, leaving Mr. Hoan as the sole breadwinner for the family. Xài and her brother contributed to the household by working as well.

In 1971, Xài decided to marry and move to the United States with her husband. Little did she know that this departure from her homeland would be a day of destiny, and she would later lose contact with her family.
For a while after arriving in the US, Xài maintained contact with her father and brother through handwritten letters. They exchanged addresses and photographs to stay connected. However, a crisis occurred when she divorced her husband, who threw away all the letters containing her family’s address in Vietnam, making it impossible for her to reach out to them.
Time passed, and Xài attempted to reconnect with her family, but her financial situation did not allow it. By the time her circumstances improved, she had no information to go on. All hope seemed lost, but surprisingly, just days after sharing her story on the Tuấn Vỹ channel, good news arrived.
Xài shared her information in the hopes of finding her family
An emotional reunion with long-lost family
The one who responded to Xài’s plea was her sister-in-law. As soon as she heard Xài’s story, she immediately recognized her and confirmed that she was indeed her long-lost sister-in-law. Seeing her sister-in-law on the screen, Xài couldn’t hold back her tears, overwhelmed with emotion at this unexpected turn of events late in her life.
After verifying the matching information and recognizing each other through old photographs, Xài exclaimed, “It’s my family.” Her sister-in-law comforted her and shared that the family had been searching for her for years to no avail.
Xài and her sister-in-law were reunited at last
Through her sister-in-law’s sharing, Xài learned that her family was still living in Kiên Giang and, without any information about her, had lost all contact. Hearing about her family and knowing that her nieces and nephews were doing well brought Xài great joy, and she promised to visit Vietnam to see them and pay respects to her ancestors after more than 50 years of separation.
“We’ve been longing for you, and I’ve asked people who went to the US to help find you, but there was no news. We had given up hope, but when I saw your story on the Tuấn Vỹ channel, I knew it was you,” shared Xài’s sister-in-law.
They reminisced about old times and shared updates about their daily lives. Xài assured her family that she would return to Vietnam to visit them and pay her respects to their ancestors.
