Each year, approximately 10 to 12 billion apples are hand-picked during the harvest season in Washington. From the farms, each apple is carefully selected and stored following the best practices to ensure they reach Vietnamese families in perfect condition. At the farms, each Washington apple is meticulously cared for and inspected for color, size, aroma, sugar content, and starch content. The apples are then harvested and placed in large bins, promptly transported to a nearby packing facility.

The removal of oxygen and carbon dioxide slows down the ripening process, allowing Washington apple growers to supply fresh apples to customers year-round. Without this technology, apples would continue to ripen after harvest, reducing their shelf life. With controlled atmospheric conditions, when the apples are removed from storage for packaging and transportation, they taste as crisp and sweet as if they were just plucked from the tree.
