Flat-screen TVs should be cleaned at least once a week and whenever dust or dirt is visible. Sticking to a consistent cleaning schedule can help prevent buildup and the need for deep cleaning.

How to Clean
First, turn off the TV and let it cool down before cleaning. This is a safety precaution and also makes it easier to spot dust and fingerprints.
Refer to the user manual. Depending on your TV model, there may be specific cleaning recommendations. According to Copeland, the manual should provide information on safety precautions and products to avoid. Gently use a microfiber cloth to wipe down the frame, shelves, and ports.
Clean the screen with a microfiber cloth, starting from the top and working your way down to remove dirt and fingerprints. Be gentle and avoid applying too much pressure.
If the dry or damp cloth doesn’t remove all traces of dirt, you can use a solution of water and dish soap or water and vinegar. Lightly spray the microfiber cloth with the diluted mixture and wipe the screen.
Experts advise against using any glass cleaners, soaps, detergents, or cleaners containing ammonia, alcohol, benzene, perfume, or paint thinner solvents. Strong chemicals can damage the screen.
It’s also recommended to avoid using paper towels or dishcloths when cleaning the TV screen, as these can scratch the screen or damage the anti-glare coating.
Microfiber cloths are best for cleaning flat-screen TVs. For the screen, Copeland suggests using an anti-static microfiber cloth. Some manufacturers also recommend using flannel cloth.
How to Clean the Remote Control

Just like the TV, the remote control also requires attention because we handle it so often. First, remove the batteries. If you have a rechargeable remote, pay attention to the charging port to avoid getting it wet. Dampen a clean microfiber cloth with a solution of water and dish soap or water and vinegar.
Gently wipe the top and bottom of the remote control. As with the TV screen, avoid spraying or applying liquid directly to the remote and ensure the cloth is damp, not wet, to prevent any damage to the electronics. Use cotton swabs to clean the buttons and grooves.
