Educating children on proper screen distance can be time-consuming and difficult to monitor consistently. However, the free Safety Screen app available on Android smartphones can effectively prevent children from placing their eyes too close to the device screen, providing 24/7 protection.

Step 1: Begin by downloading the Safety Screen app, which can be found for free on CH Play (or you can download it directly here).

Step 2:

Once you have downloaded and installed the application, launch it and click the button below to activate the app.

A dialogue box will prompt you to provide permission to Safety Screen for utilizing the front camera in order to measure the distance between the child’s eyes and the screen. Click on the “Allow” button to proceed with running the application.

Step 5: The main interface of the application is displayed below. The application will prompt you to set a four-character PIN (password) to prevent unauthorized access. Please enter your desired PIN code and confirm it by filling in both the “PIN CODE” and “CONFIRM PIN CODE” boxes.

Please specify the allotted usage time for the app by entering the desired duration in minutes in the designated “Set Timer” box.

Once you have completed the setup, simply press the “Start” button to initiate the application. Once started, the application will run discreetly in the background on your device.

  2. Exit the app.
  3. Bring your eyes close to the screen.
  4. Observe the notification box: “Your face is too close to the screen”.

Please ensure that you maintain a safe distance from the screen when this message is displayed. It is important to teach the child to move their eyes away from the screen during this time, as no tasks can be performed.

Please ensure that there is a proper distance between your eyes and the screen. Once this is achieved, a dialogue box will appear with the message “Well done“. Once this message disappears, you can continue using the phone.

To disable the protection mode, please follow the instructions outlined below.

  1. Access the Safety Screen app.
  2. Locate the OFF button on the app.
  3. Select the OFF button to proceed.

Step 2:

The system will prompt you to enter the PIN that you set up during the initial setup. Once you have entered the PIN, press the STOP button to stop.
