While using air conditioning can make us feel cooler and more comfortable, spending too much time in an air-conditioned environment can lead to dry skin and an irritated throat and nose.
To remedy this situation, you can place the following three items in the air-conditioned room.
First: A basin of clean water
After turning on the air conditioner, the room tends to get dry. Prolonged exposure to this dry air can lead to dry skin. Therefore, it is best to place a basin of clean water in the room when the air conditioner is running.
This basin of water should be placed in a spacious area, avoiding corners or other spots that the cool air might struggle to reach. The water will then evaporate into tiny droplets that disperse into the air, reducing the dryness and providing a more comfortable atmosphere, thus preventing dehydration and dry skin.
Second: A damp towel
Prepare a basin of clean water, add a small amount of white vinegar, and stir. Then, soak a towel in the vinegar water, wring it out until it is half-dry, and hang it up to dry. You can hang the vinegar-soaked towel on the window sill, below the air conditioner, or on the door handle, for example.
The moisture from the towel will continuously evaporate, increasing the humidity in the room and reducing dryness. According to experts, this method will help maintain a humidity level of 60-70% in the air-conditioned room, eliminating the unpleasant feeling of rough, dry skin.
Additionally, the vinegar scent on the towel can help eliminate any unpleasant odors in the air-conditioned room, making the air fresher. If there are mosquitoes in the room, you can also add a few drops of essential oil to the water before soaking the towel, which will help keep the mosquitoes at bay.
Third: A mist sprayer
Another option is to place a mist sprayer in the air-conditioned room. This device will emit water vapor, helping to maintain a balanced humidity level.
However, when using a mist sprayer, it is best not to operate it continuously. Instead, use it intermittently for short periods, such as 15 minutes at a time, with a gap of about two hours between each operation. Otherwise, the humidity in the room may become too high, creating an environment conducive to the growth of mold and bacteria.
Other tips for preventing dryness in an air-conditioned room
– Before turning on the air conditioner, it is advisable to mop the floor to increase the humidity in the room. This way, some moisture will remain on the floor, making the environment less dry and more comfortable during sleep.
– Avoid using the Dry mode on your air conditioner, as it will make the air in the room extremely dry. This mode is only suitable for humid and rainy days. For hot and dry days, it is better to use the Cool mode to maintain a stable humidity level.
