After a futile waste of money, I finally found a TV that suits my needs. During this process, I gained some valuable insights, and now I’m ready to share them with you, hoping that they can help you in your future TV purchases.

1. Steer clear of laser TVs

Laser TVs are short-throw projectors powered by a laser light source with an integrated sound system, including one or more speakers. While these TVs offer high durability and the color brightness and constancy of laser projectors are highly regarded, there are some notable drawbacks.

Firstly, laser TVs are relatively expensive as they are a new and evolving technology with limited availability. The investment cost can be double or triple that of a regular projector. Moreover, laser TVs have a significant technical shortcoming; the short-throw projection technology can cause image distortion, affecting not only the viewing experience but also potentially harming your vision with prolonged viewing.

2. Avoid TVs with small storage capacity

In this digital age, the functions of smart TVs are ever-expanding, and image quality is constantly being enhanced, integrating numerous features that demand more storage. Opting for a TV with insufficient storage may result in frequent freezing and instability while watching videos or gaming, significantly impacting your overall enjoyment.

3. Don’t buy a small TV

Larger TVs offer superior image effects and a more immersive experience. While small TVs may be tempting due to their lower price point, choosing a larger option won’t necessarily break the bank. Moreover, selecting a smaller TV may lead to regrets about the subpar image quality. For a truly enjoyable viewing experience, it’s advisable to opt for a larger screen size.

4. Ensure your TV has blue light protection

Research indicates that prolonged exposure to TV screens without blue light protection can easily cause eye strain and damage your vision over time. TVs equipped with blue light filtering technology can effectively reduce the impact of blue light on your eyes, providing a more comfortable viewing experience and extended viewing durations, especially beneficial for the elderly and children whose eyesight requires extra care.

5. Don’t compromise on motion compensation technology

Motion compensation technology enhances smoothness by interpolating additional frames between the original ones using special algorithms. It eliminates distracting artifacts from unstable signal sources, reduces motion blur, and minimizes shaking, resulting in more lifelike motion portrayal than standard TVs.

6. Bypass LCD TVs

LCD TVs are constrained by their backlighting, often resulting in a dimmer picture, and the screen may appear overly dull when viewed in a well-lit room. Additionally, LCD TVs tend to exhibit lower color saturation, delivering less vibrant visuals, and they struggle to reproduce true blacks, leading to a lack of depth and contrast in dark scenes. Lastly, due to technical limitations, LCD TVs can’t achieve the same level of thinness and lightness as newer display technologies, which may be a deal-breaker for those seeking a sleek, modern aesthetic.
