Discover some interesting alternative uses for expired cosmetics and food items. These hacks might just come in handy!
1. Avocados
If you have an overripe avocado that’s past its prime, don’t throw it away! Instead, use it as a hair treatment. Mash or blend the avocado and apply it to dry hair. Leave it on for at least 6 hours, then shampoo and condition as usual. Your hair might feel dry at first, but after a couple of washes, it will be soft and shiny.
2. Sheet Masks
While it’s not advisable to use expired sheet masks on your face, they can be useful for other parts of your body. Try using them on dry, cracked feet, or even your neck, chest, or hands for a hydrating treat.
3. Moisturizers and Cleansers
Expired moisturizers and cleansers can be put to good use by cleaning and polishing your bags and wallets. Simply apply the product to a cotton pad and start buffing.
4. Milk
Sour milk can be used in various ways. You can make your own cheese, use it in baking, or even make pancakes. Additionally, it can be applied as a face mask; just be prepared for the strong smell! The lactic acid will work wonders for your skin.
5. Shaving Cream
Expired shaving cream has multiple alternative uses. It’s great for removing grime and grease, and it can even clean under your fingernails. Simply apply a small amount and use a toothpick to clean.
6. Toothpaste
Toothpaste is a mild abrasive and can be used to remove stains from carpets and even colored pencil marks from walls. It’s also great for whitening and cleaning sneakers and can be used to clean your phone screen. It can also help remove sour milk smells from baby bottles.
7. Yogurt
Yogurt can be beneficial even after its expiration date. It may sound strange, but it can be an excellent exfoliating face mask. Simply mix yogurt with honey and blended cucumber, apply to your face, and leave on for 15 minutes. Then, rinse with warm water.
8. Eyeliners and Lip Liners
While it’s not safe to use expired makeup products on your eyes or lips, you can give them a second life by using them to underline words and sentences in books or as coloring pencils.
Peanut butter can be a great substitute for shaving cream and will save you time. Its high oil content leaves your skin smooth and moisturized after shaving, and you’ll be surprised at how soft your skin feels.
