Enrolling your child in school is an important process, especially during their early years in preschool. It is essential to understand the enrollment procedures to choose a suitable and reputable school for your child.

1School Zoning for Children

Firstly, parents should visit the website or go directly to the school they intend to enroll their child in to check if their residence falls within the school’s catchment area. Each school recruits students from a specific geographical area, and this may change annually.

To enroll your child in your school of choice, the student’s permanent residence or temporary residence certificate must be within the school’s designated catchment area.

2Enrollment Application

Before registering your child, you should complete the following information:

  • Application form (see sample below)
  • Birth certificate: original or certified copy (The copy must be issued by the Judicial Organization – People’s Committee of the commune, ward, or town)
  • Household registration book: photocopy (no need for notarization, but bring the original for comparison) or a temporary residence certificate from the District/County Police where you reside, or a residence confirmation from the Ward/Commune/Town Police.

3Information to be Filled in the Application Form

Parents of the student must provide the following information:

  • Child’s Information: Full name, date of birth, place of birth, gender, and ethnicity.
  • Parent’s Information: (Information of either parent is acceptable) Full name, year of birth, ID number (or Citizen ID number), phone number, and email address (you may use someone else’s email if the parents do not have one).
  • Current Address: (The residence must be within the catchment area of the school you are applying to)
  • Permanent Residence Information: Province/City, District/County, Ward/Commune, Neighborhood/Village, and Group/Hamlet (if applicable in your locality).
