Singer Dam Thu Trang takes her two children, Suchin and Sutin, on a summer vacation to Hong Kong. Her husband, businessman Cuong Do La, couldn’t join due to work commitments.

One of the family’s must-visit destinations in Hong Kong is the famous Disneyland theme park, which attracts around 6-7 million visitors annually.

Hong Kong Disneyland is the first Disney-themed amusement park in China, officially opening its doors on September 12, 2005. The park’s construction marked a significant milestone in the region’s tourism development. This year also marks the 20th anniversary of the park’s opening, with various special celebrations taking place.

Little Suchin was dressed up as Princess Elsa by her mother. This is a popular activity for visitors to the park. Young guests are encouraged to dress up as princesses, superheroes, or any beloved Disney character. The park even offers a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique service for girls who want to be professionally transformed into princesses.

It’s common to spot children dressed as adorable cartoon characters. However, this rule doesn’t apply to adults. Hong Kong Disneyland, like other Disney parks, prohibits adults (aged 16 and above) from wearing complete character costumes to avoid confusion between guests and the park’s cast members and employees. Official Disney characters appointed by the park are the only ones allowed to interact, take photos, and give autographs to visitors. Instead, adults can engage in ‘Disney Bounding,’ which means dressing up in outfits inspired by the colors and styles of Disney characters.

Dam Thu Trang and her children were mesmerized by the fireworks display, one of the park’s most remarkable attractions, held at 8 pm. The show takes place at the Castle of Magical Dreams, combining lights, music, and dazzling fireworks to retell familiar Disney fairy tales. This activity is considered one of the most anticipated at Disneyland.

To secure a good viewing spot, visitors need to arrive early or book a hotel within the park for a convenient vantage point. The Castle of Magical Dreams resembles the grand and majestic structures often seen in animated and fairy-tale films. At night, the castle is illuminated, enhancing its enchanting beauty.

Hong Kong Disneyland spans approximately 27.5 hectares and features seven uniquely themed lands, each offering a distinct world of adventure. These lands include the quaint Main Street, U.S.A., the enchanting Fantasyland, the futuristic Tomorrowland, the adventurous Adventureland, the wild west-themed Grizzly Gulch, the mysterious Mystic Point, and the playful Toy Story Land.

The park boasts over 100 games, attractions, and interactive play areas suitable for all ages and preferences. Due to the young age of Suchin and Sutin, Dam Thu Trang opted for gentle rides like the wooden horse carousel.

The Jungle River Cruise is a highlight, where guests board a boat and sail along a man-made river, exploring a meticulously recreated rainforest with lifelike animatronic wildlife and stunning scenery inspired by famous rivers like the Mekong and Amazon. Unlike other Disneyland parks with separate ‘Rivers of America’ and Tom Sawyer Island, Hong Kong Disneyland integrates the river experience into the Jungle River Cruise in Adventureland.

Daily, visitors can enjoy the ‘Flights of Fantasy Parade,’ featuring beloved Disney characters on elaborately decorated floats, along with energetic performers interacting with the crowd.

Ticket prices vary depending on the season and the type of ticket chosen. A one-day pass typically costs around HKD 639 (approximately VND 2.1 million) for adults and HKD 475 (approximately VND 1.6 million) for children. Consider purchasing a two-day ticket to fully explore the park.

The park offers three uniquely themed hotels: Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel, exuding Victorian elegance like a fairy-tale palace; Disney’s Hollywood Hotel, reflecting the glamor of old Hollywood with Art Deco influences; and Disney Explorers Lodge, evoking a sense of adventure and exploration, inspired by far-flung continents. All three hotels provide luxurious accommodations, Disney-themed entertainment, and complimentary shuttle services to the park.

Prior to their Disneyland visit, Dam Thu Trang and her family explored Hong Kong’s iconic slopes, such as King’s Road in Causeway Bay.
