Below are some simple ways to clean hats at home:

Preparation

Warm water.

1 tablespoon of detergent.

1 tablespoon of baking soda.

Procedure

Add hot water to the sink.

Then add baking soda and detergent, and soak the hat in the water before scrubbing.

Rinse with cold water afterwards.

Gently shape the hat and place it on a towel to dry.

If you have multiple hats to clean, you can use the bathtub instead of the sink, but you will need additional cleaning supplies:

Dish soap.

Hydrogen peroxide.

A brush.

Instructions:

In a small bowl, mix 1 part dish soap and 2 parts hydrogen peroxide.

Dip the brush into the solution and scrub the stains before rinsing with cold water and repeating if it is not clean.

This method is suitable for hats that are not heavily soiled. Note that you should not pour hydrogen peroxide directly onto the hat as it will fade the color.

Some other notes:

Classic hats may need to be cleaned more thoroughly. Be gentle when cleaning, as soaking may alter the shape of the hat.

Some hats can be thrown in the washing machine and laundered with clothes. This method works well for soft hats that you don’t have to worry about the structure of.

When reshaping your hat after laundering, use a rolled-up towel that mimics the shape of your head to let it dry slowly.
