How to effectively use and store cheese

– If you buy cheese in a moderate amount and plan to consume it within 1-2 days, you do not need to refrigerate it and can keep it at room temperature. It is recommended to store cheese in the cool compartment of the refrigerator, avoiding buying too much and storing it in the freezer as it may decrease the quality and flavor of the cheese.
 
 
– When storing cheese, it is best to wrap it in wax paper instead of using plastic wrap. Cheese needs to “breathe” – loosely wrapping the cheese helps to enhance its flavor. If possible, you should store the cheese in airtight food containers and keep them in the cool compartment of the refrigerator.
 
– Hard cheeses tend to have a longer shelf life compared to soft cheeses.
 
– Blue cheese, which is loved by many people when served with salads, contains bacteria that can easily transfer to other types of food. Therefore, it is best to have a separate section in the refrigerator for storing blue cheese.
 
 
– If the cheese you bought from the store looks normal but starts to mold after a while, do not rush to throw it away. Simply cut away about 1.5cm of the cheese and continue using the inner part – this is completely harmless to your health.
 
– The hard outer part of the cheese can be grated and used to enhance the flavor of stews and soups.
 
– If you need to grate cheese but find it difficult because it sticks to the grater, simply apply a layer of cooking oil on the grater before grating and the cheese will no longer stick. Additionally, it is best to grate cheese immediately after taking it out of the refrigerator, slightly cold cheese is easier to grate.
 
 
– In some dishes that use Mozzarella or Swiss cheese but you don’t want it to be stringy when eating, before adding the cheese to the dish, add a few drops of lemon juice or wine to the dish!
