1 Ingredients

  • 200g of mung beans
  • A cotton cloth or an old shirt
  • 1 plastic colander, 1 ceramic plate, and 1 basin (the basin should be slightly larger than the colander)

2 Instructions

Step 1 Soak the mung beans in cold water overnight for 6-8 hours.

Step 2 Place the colander over the basin, making sure there is a 1cm gap between the bottom of the colander and the basin to prevent the sprouts from getting waterlogged.

Step 3 Line the colander with the cotton cloth.

Step 4 Spread the soaked beans evenly over the cloth-lined colander and cover them with the remaining cloth.

Step 5 Pour 2/3 of a cup of water over the cloth to create moisture.

Step 6 Place the plate over the cloth and put the setup in a cool, shaded area.

Note: Remember to sprinkle water on the sprouts twice a day, in the morning and at night. Also, discard the water that collects in the basin.

Step 7 After 2-3 days, your bean sprouts will be ready for harvest. Use scissors to cut the roots that have grown through the cloth to make harvesting and cleaning easier.
