The causes of condensation in cars
It is caused by the temperature difference inside and outside the car. This condition often occurs when it is raining, cold weather, and high humidity. The warm temperature inside the car and the cold temperature outside create condensation when the water vapor contacts the cold glass surface, forming tiny droplets.
Water evaporation from water-containing objects in the car, such as the driver drinking tea, coffee, or water. If you drink cold water, it can cause sweat to form on the cup, which can also lead to condensation inside the car.
The air conditioning blows moisture into the car: This phenomenon is due to a malfunction or failure of the air conditioning system in the car.
How to get rid of condensation in a car
Here are some suggestions to help you quickly get rid of condensation in cars.
Directly deal with the condensation in the car
The first thing you need to do when you see condensation in the car is to use a dry, soft, highly absorbent cloth to wipe it off. If the exterior windows also have condensation, use the car’s wiper to handle the outside as well.

You can use shaving foam or anti-fog additives on a soft, dry, clean cloth to wipe different areas on the car’s windows. After 2 minutes, use another dry cloth to clean up the remaining foam on the glass.
Using moisture-absorbing floor mats or carpets, especially those that are waterproof, during wet rainy days is not convenient as they can cause both moisture and unpleasant smells. Therefore, choose non-waterproof floor mats to ensure the most comfortable driving experience.
During cold rainy days, there is a significant temperature difference between the car and the external environment. Therefore, to limit this situation, you should not put wet towels, raincoats, or umbrellas in the car. If you need to place them in the car, make sure they are covered.
It is best to dry them before putting them in the car because it helps reduce moisture and unpleasant odors.
Proactively balance the temperature inside the car and outside
Balancing the temperature between the car and the outside is essential. You can achieve temperature balance in one of the following two ways:
Partially open the car door by 10cm – 15cm: This is an extremely effective, quick, and cost-effective way to balance the temperature. However, remember to only do this when it is not raining or when it is drizzling. Do not open the doors when it is pouring rain or cold outside.
Use the outside air mode: If you cannot partially open the door, you should use the outside air mode. This method can be used while the car is moving, in cold rainy weather, etc. By using this mode, the fan will help draw fresh air from the outside into the cabin, balancing the temperature between the car and the air.
Use a dehumidifier
Using a dehumidifier is a solution that many people choose because it is quick and easy to implement. The driver simply needs to place the dehumidifier in the car, and it will automatically balance the temperature and remove the moisture in the car, reducing condensation.
Use the air conditioning
In the winter, using the air conditioning to raise the temperature and balance it with the environment is also quite common.
Drivers should turn on the air conditioning and adjust the fan to blow towards the windows, helping to dry the glass and prevent condensation from forming inside.
Do not set the air conditioning temperature lower than the outside temperature on cold rainy days, as it may cause the windows to condense water vapor from the outside.
Maintain the air conditioning regularly
The air conditioning blowing moisture into the car is also a common phenomenon, so when encountering this situation, drivers need to proactively maintain it.
This condition indicates that your air conditioning system is experiencing problems, and if used for a long time, it will affect the air conditioning system and, more dangerously, the car’s engine.
