A new diet could help reverse type 2 diabetes in 5 years

A soup and shake diet program proposed by the UK National Health Service (NHS) could “reverse” type 2 diabetes.

New data shows that this method could help patients with type 2 diabetes gradually reduce their illness for at least 5 years, according to Yahoo News.

A previous study sponsored by the UK government found that about 1/4 of diabetes patients experienced gradual improvement within 2 years after starting a low-calorie “soup and shake” diet. Now, from this ongoing study, the authors found that the aforementioned diet could help to continue reducing the disease for another 3 years, totaling 5 years.
