Coarse salt, which contains sodium chloride, can clean and remove bacteria as well as increase the friction between the brush and the surfaces. This means you don’t have to put in a lot of effort to achieve the desired results.
Clean rusty iron tools. Similar to enamel surfaces, iron tools in the high humidity environment of the bathroom are prone to rust. To clean them, you can use a mixture of vinegar, salt, and baking soda. These are easily obtainable ingredients that are safe for the users’ health.
When using this method, you can mix 2 parts vinegar, 1 part salt, and 1 part baking soda, and pour it into a spray bottle for easy use. After scrubbing with the mixture, make sure to clean with water to prevent residue.
Get rid of ants, cockroaches. Dark and humid places like bathrooms and kitchens often attract ants and cockroaches to build their nests. You can eliminate them by using insecticides, but this method is not safe, especially for families with young children.
Instead, you can prepare a piece of cardboard, pour salt onto it, and place it in places where ants and cockroaches usually gather, such as kitchen cabinets and under the kitchen sink.
Sodium chloride in salt is very effective in repelling insects. Moreover, salt has antiseptic properties, so it can keep utensils, dishes, and food clean and safe.
Clean sewer pipes. Both kitchens and bathrooms have drainage pipes. In hot weather, these pipes often emit unpleasant odor, attracting flies and mosquitoes, which can affect the quality of life for the whole family.
To improve this situation, you can mix salt with hot water and pour it down the drain. The salt will clean the accumulated dirt and eliminate the unpleasant odor in the sewer pipes.
Clean hands. Hands come into contact with many surfaces and contain a large number of bacteria. To use salt in the bathroom, when washing your hands, you can sprinkle a little salt on the palm of your hand and rub it like you would with soap. The salt will remove dirt without causing harm.
Whiten teeth. Having salt in the bathroom, when brushing your teeth, you can dip your toothbrush with toothpaste into a little salt and brush as usual. The salt will help whiten your teeth effectively and noticeably reduce bad breath.
