Salt and Its Different Forms
Commonly, salt refers to table salt, which is a crystalline solid that comes in various colors such as pink, gray, and white, depending on the region and type. However, the most common form is white salt.
Table salt primarily consists of Sodium and Chloride (NaCl), along with trace amounts of other minerals. It contains 40% Sodium and 60% Chloride.
Thus, table salt contains Sodium.
Sodium Salt
Sodium salt is a combination of the mineral Sodium and various other compounds, naturally present in food or added during production, and is therefore not actually salt or table salt.
Sodium salt enters the body in two different forms: that which is added to food and that which is naturally present in food.
There are several types of Sodium salt, including:
+ Sodium sulfate, the Sodium salt of sulfuric acid, used in the production of detergents.
+ Sodium nitrate, used in fertilizers and fireworks.
+ The more familiar Sodium salt used in Microlax® for constipation or gynecological issues, or Baking soda.

Applications |
The applications of Sodium salt vary depending on the combined substances: + Food seasoning. + Detergent production. + Fireworks and fertilizer production. + Medical use, etc. |
Essential seasoning in food preparation. Beneficial to health when consumed in moderate amounts. Also used as a disinfectant when diluted for mouthwash or wound cleaning. |
In conclusion, Sodium salt and table salt are not the same.
Both Sodium salt and table salt can contribute to high blood pressure, so if you intend to consume more, it is advisable to increase your intake of Calcium and Potassium-rich foods to help regulate blood pressure.
