Queen’s Beach is a vast expanse of rocks stretching over hundreds of meters. It is considered one of the most pristine and breathtaking beaches, boasting untouched natural beauty.
The beach earned its name, “Egg Beach,” from the layers of smooth, round pebbles that cover the shore. During high tide, these pebbles are partially submerged in the clear blue water, and when the tide recedes, they reflect the dazzling sunlight, creating a mesmerizing scene.
This beach is also intimately connected to the last Empress of Vietnam, Nam Phuong. Born Nguyen Huu Thi Lan in 1914, she came from a prestigious family in Go Cong, Tien Giang Province. She became the Empress of the Nguyen Dynasty under Emperor Bao Dai and was a prominent figure during the cultural fusion of East and West.
Educated in France from a young age, Nam Phuong embodied grace, intelligence, and elegance. After becoming the Empress in 1934, she not only served as a symbol of courtly beauty but also actively engaged in social, charitable, and educational endeavors.
During her official trip, Nam Phuong fell in love with the enchanting land of Binh Dinh.
While accompanying Emperor Bao Dai on his visits to the central provinces, Nam Phuong was captivated by the scenic beauty of Quy Nhon in Binh Dinh, with its lush mountains and serene waters. Enchanted by the pristine and poetic charm of the sea and sky, she chose Egg Beach (now located in Ghenh Rang) as her private beach.
The local people affectionately named this place “Queen’s Beach” to honor the beautiful and elegant Empress who left an indelible mark on this land of warriors. Nam Phuong’s life was filled with ups and downs, from the heights of royal power to years of exile in France, but her legacy endures as a symbol of intelligence and nobility.
The best time to explore Queen’s Beach in Quy Nhon is from February to August, when the weather is pleasant, sunny, and less affected by rain and storms. To reach Queen’s Beach from the city center, follow An Duong Vuong Street and then continue on Han Mac Tu Street until you see the welcome gate of the tourist area.
From the large rocks, you can admire the majestic view of the fishing fleets shrouded in mist.
The rocks have been naturally shaped into round pebbles, resembling eggs.
The towering cliffs on both sides act as sentinels, guarding against the powerful waves that continuously crash against the shore, sending sprays of white foam into the air. From the higher vantage points, you can take in the breathtaking vista of the Binh Dinh sea, with the sparkling round pebbles adding to the allure.
However, due to the treacherous cliffs, visitors are advised to enjoy photography and sightseeing rather than swimming at this location.
