100% Boss requirement, try to achieve 120%
Dang Hai Trieu, a marketing employee of a service company in District 1 (Ho Chi Minh City), has always been well-liked by everyone despite changing three companies. Trieu’s secret is quite simple. “At each moment, I must have appropriate behavior. When I just graduated, without experience, without knowing anyone, I always try my best, work hard, and show a honest attitude when working. If the boss requests the work to be done at 100%, I will try to achieve 120%. Especially in the office with female colleagues, when there are heavy tasks like carrying water jugs, carrying photocopy paper, I should take the initiative to help them.”
Hai Trieu also shared: “When moving to other tasks, I always maintain a strong working spirit. At the same time, because I have a sense of humor and have made friends, I also often make everyone laugh. Remember, humorously but don’t be too jokeless”.
Don’t bring “home issues” to the office
Not bringing home issues to the office is also a factor that makes a good impression on colleagues. In the office culture seminar from the perspective of business leaders on September 13 in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Nguyen Le Anh, a corporate training expert from Action Coach, shared: “We don’t bring “home shoes” to the office. Let’s get rid of them to bring beautiful shoes with us. It means that you should not bring family matters, outside issues that affect your emotions to the office”.

Mr. Ly Quang Thang, head of the human resources partnership department of Giao Hang Nhanh company, shared from the perspective of a personnel officer. “With a new employee, there are many ways to approach, but first they have to “join the family”. Even a management position, when involved in the work, they also have to understand the organizational culture and the department culture before “showing off” their techniques. New employees should observe, have lunch with their colleagues to inquire in advance, or have lunch separately with someone in the group to learn”, Mr. Thang said

Sharing more about the experience for newcomers, Mr. Ly Quang Thang said: “For work, first, don’t fear difficulties. Staying a bit late, basically staying late is not efficient, but people will appreciate the spirit of wanting to learn, and from there they will open their hearts to accept more work tasks for you to experience. Actively participate in team activities in the company to connect with people.”

Be yourself but respect common principles
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang, Marketing Director at a 5-star Resort, said: “Maintain a neutral attitude when joining a team. The larger the group, the more likely conflicts will arise, too smart people will be hated, too trivial people will be hated as well. To stabilize long-term in an office, it is best to reach a compromise, be neutral, not follow the crowd. Always balance between colleagues, not too close, not talk too much about yourself and always keep calm in every situation”.
Ms. Thuy Hang also shared: “In the position of department head, there are many employees below. When there are newcomers in the department, I always “be small” in front of the whole team about the new colleagues. Also, it is required not to badmouth anyone in the office. Everyone supports each other in their work, not let personal emotions interfere with the collective. Thanks to that, everyone in the team is also united. For new employees, don’t rush to integrate into the company, don’t need to flatter or ingratiate yourself. Just be yourself, live according to your true personality, but respect the common principles. In the first few days, people will assess the ability of each person through their behavior”.
