Tiến sĩ Faraz from the UK National Health Service explains that holding in gas can lead to many issues.
People have to do this because gas accumulates in the body all day long.
The UK National Health Service states that an average person releases about 1 liter of gas in the intestines every day.
Dr. Faraz advises releasing it to avoid smelly “gas.” according to The Sun.
Dr. Faraz explains that everyone “passes gas” and the gas forms naturally in the stomach as a waste product of the digestion process. It gets mixed with the air.
He says that not “passing gas” can lead to bloating, discomfort, and abdominal pain. Gas can escape when burping heavily and cause bad breath. Imagine how terrible it is to have smelly gas-like burps”, according to The Sun.

Although Dr. Faraz advises against holding in gas, there are things that can help make “passing gas” less smelly.
Nutrition expert Megan Rossi, a doctor in gut health from the University of Queensland (Australia), says that not going to the bathroom allows more water to be absorbed, making the stool dry and hard, which can lead to constipation.
Tips to avoid bloating
The expert also provides top tips to avoid bloating, as follows:
• Avoid sweeteners
The important thing is to avoid sweeteners because the small intestine has difficulty absorbing sweeteners.
• Check protein consumption
If the “passing gas” smells worse, check the protein consumption, according to The Sun.

• Balance protein and fiber
If you want to increase protein intake, try increasing fiber to balance with the amount of protein in each meal.
