On November 15, 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued a document stating that the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) had detected non-compliant levels of ethylene oxide in a batch of 500 CTN (945 kg) of Red Bear brand sour shrimp instant noodles imported by Qian Yu Food Enterprise Co., Ltd.
In response, Asian Food Corporation (AFC), a leading manufacturer of instant food products in Vietnam, released a statement:
“We would like to emphasize that we have no knowledge of, contact with, or collaboration with a partner named Qian Yu regarding the export of Red Bear Sour Shrimp instant noodles to Taiwan.”

The brand also stated that as food safety standards vary across countries, their products are manufactured and exported specifically for each market to comply with the respective country’s regulations.
