Lam Khanh Chi, formerly known as Khanh Chi, was one of the leading pop stars in Vietnam in the late 90s and early 2000s. She surprised everyone when she chose to transition, creating a media frenzy. After her transition, Khanh Chi gained love and support from many fans, who affectionately referred to her as the “Princess of Vietnamese Entertainment.” However, there were also diverse opinions surrounding this.
“When I first transitioned, I wasn’t as beautiful as I am now, so some people thought I didn’t deserve to be called a princess,” she shared. “They thought I was giving myself that title. But today, I have to be honest and say that I don’t want to be called a princess anymore. That title is for young women in their twenties. I’m 46 years old now, and I’m afraid I don’t live up to that title. Because everyone kept calling me that, I felt pressured to constantly improve myself to look younger and more beautiful to deserve that title.”
