Fly Control with Jackfruit Seeds

A simple yet effective way to get rid of flies is to make a trap using jackfruit seeds. Soak the seeds in 40% alcohol for a week, then grind them into a paste, and let it ferment for another week. Flies are attracted to this concoction and can be eliminated in large numbers.

After two weeks, mix the paste with white sugar or honey and spread it around your garden, especially near ripe fruits, or in garbage areas, avoiding direct sunlight. Flies and other insects that feed on this mixture will be poisoned and die instantly.

Apple Cider Vinegar for Fly Control

Apple cider vinegar is a common household ingredient with multiple uses. Apart from enhancing your dishes, it can also be used to effectively control flies.

In addition to perfecting your dishes, vinegar is also used to effectively kill flies.

Pour half a bottle of vinegar into a clean jar, and place a plastic funnel (or a paper one) into the mouth of the jar. Flies will be lured into the jar through the funnel but will find it difficult to escape. Place these jars in areas where flies are a frequent nuisance.

Repel Flies with Orange and Lemon Peels

Orange peels are not just a remedy for motion sickness, but they also effectively repel flies due to their strong fragrance. Place orange peels in fly-infested areas, and you’ll notice a significant reduction in their presence.

Place orange or lemon peels in areas where flies frequently gather; the citrus scent will quickly drive them away.

Similarly, lemon peels can be used in the same way as orange peels to deter flies. The citrus scent of lemon peels will effectively repel flies from your surroundings.

Using Detergent and Chili Powder

Mix detergent and chili powder, fill it into a spray bottle, and spritz it in areas where flies are a common sight. The chili powder will irritate the flies, causing them to stay away.

Black Pepper to the Rescue

The strong, distinctive aroma of black pepper is an effective fly repellent. It’s a simple yet powerful way to keep flies at bay.

Mix black pepper with sugar and egg yolk, and place the mixture on a small plate. Position these plates in areas where flies tend to congregate, and watch them disappear quickly.

Repel Flies with Water-Filled Plastic Bags

Filling plastic bags with water and hanging them where you want to keep flies away is a popular and easy method. Flies are repelled by the light reflected from the water-filled bags, as their compound eyes, each consisting of thousands of tiny lenses, find it disturbing. However, this method is only effective during the day.

Essential Oils to the Rescue

Flies detest the scent of essential oils such as lemongrass, peppermint, and lavender. Prepare a solution of lemongrass oil (or any other essential oil of your choice) mixed with half a cup of hot water, and pour it into a spray bottle or an essential oil diffuser to disperse the fragrance throughout your home.

Not only will this method keep flies at bay, but it will also fill your home with a pleasant aroma, creating a relaxing and refreshing atmosphere. Essential oil diffusers disperse the oil particles into the air, providing a soothing and odor-neutralizing effect.
