Ingredients
- 1 knob of ginger (choose an older root – even better if it has already sprouted)
- Cocktail sticks or skewers
- A jar or glass of water (optional)
How to Grow Ginger Without Soil
1. Soak the Ginger
Cut the older ginger root into smaller pieces and soak them in warm water overnight.
If your ginger has already sprouted, there’s no need to soak the part with the bud.
2. Germinate
Use a cocktail stick or skewer to pierce the ginger, then place them in a glass or jar of water. Make sure only half of the ginger is submerged, allowing the new shoots to grow and develop.
Change the water every 2 days and within 5-7 days, the ginger should have sprouted. Keep the ginger in a cool, well-ventilated place to aid its growth.
3. Plant the Ginger
After 2-3 weeks, transfer the ginger to a larger container of water to continue its growth. You can add some colored pebbles to the container to help the ginger root stay balanced and to decorate your little garden.
After 5-6 months, your ginger will be ready to harvest and use, and you can continue to grow the plant.
