The convenience of a microwave in today’s busy life cannot be denied. In just a few minutes, food is heated up and ready for your meal, or for busy homemakers, in just a few seconds, frozen food is thawed, saving more time for cooking.
However, we all understand that there are some items, such as food and utensils, that should not be put in the microwave, and eggs are one of those foods. The reason is that eggs can easily explode and pose a danger to us when cooking them in the microwave. That’s why many people have overlooked the method of boiling eggs in the microwave, even though it is a super quick way. But there is still a way to boil eggs in the microwave without worrying about explosions. This method is still used by Chef Caroline Lange (living in New York, USA) every time she boils eggs in the microwave and achieves perfect results. The eggs don’t explode, they still taste delicious, and it saves time as well.

Caroline states that the first and most important step when boiling eggs in the microwave is to poke a small hole in the eggshell. “Do not skip this step because when you cook the egg, it will release steam, and if you don’t create a way for the steam to escape, the boiled egg will explode,” Caroline affirms.
Caroline will start by drilling a small hole on the top of the egg and then place the egg into a large and deep bowl. Next, she will pour water into a microwave-safe dish so that the egg is completely submerged in water and approximately 2.5cm below the water surface. Finally, Caroline will lightly cover the bowl with a plastic wrap and cook the egg for 3 minutes and 30 seconds.

If you want to boil a runny yolk egg, after 3 minutes and 30 seconds, you should take the egg out of the boiling water immediately and then rinse it under cold running water or soak it in ice water until the egg is cool enough to handle. Now, you just need to peel the shell off and you’re done. The white will be firm but the yolk will be irresistibly runny.

And if you want to completely hard-boiled eggs, leave the eggs in hot water for a few minutes, then rinse under cold water. According to Caroline, 2 minutes is the right amount of time for the whites to be firm and the yolks to be soft, smooth, or you can also leave them for about 3 minutes if you want the yolks to be harder.
This is the safe way to boil eggs in the microwave, remember to share this tip with everyone.
