Tips to kill a whole swarm of mosquitoes with just one beer can, more effective than using a spray bottle

In addition to the usual ways to repel mosquitoes such as using a mosquito net, installing mosquito screens, spraying insecticides… you can refer to and make a simple mosquito trap below to ensure safety for your family without spending money and effort.

To make this simple trap, you need one or more plastic bottles, large or small size (the number of plastic bottles depends on the number of positions you want to place), and a few available ingredients in the kitchen, especially beer, soft drinks that you love.

Specifically, the necessary ingredients are:

– Beer (can be unfinished beer).

– 1 plastic bottle (you can use a beverage bottle or a mineral water bottle).

– A few spoons of sugar.

– A few spoons of detergent powder.

How to make an extremely simple mosquito trap:

– First, use a knife to cut one-third of the bottle at the bottle neck, the bottle bottom is two-thirds of the bottle length.

– Pour beer into the bottle bottom, so that the beer occupies one-third of the bottle capacity.

– Next, add a few spoons of sugar, a few spoons of detergent powder or liquid detergent, stir well with chopsticks. Sugar will attract mosquitoes, causing them to fall into this homemade trap and be easily killed.

– Flip the bottle cap upside down, place it on the bottle bottom and you’re done.

Just place this mosquito trap in places where there are often many mosquitoes like under the bed, corners of the kitchen, then the next morning when you wake up, you will be amazed to see a swarm of dead mosquitoes.

Furthermore, you can also apply other simple ways to repel mosquitoes such as:

Planting mosquito repellent plants

Instead of spraying chemicals, burning mosquito coils, you can choose to plant or put plants such as lemongrass, basil, peppermint,… in your house and garden. They are not only environmentally friendly, non-harmful to health but also effectively prevent and repel mosquitoes.

Mosquito trap with soap water

Mosquitoes often have a habit of looking for wet places, with a lot of water to breed. To kill mosquitoes from their “water eggs”, prepare a large water container, add soap and place it in damp places around the house.

When mosquitoes lay their eggs in these containers, the soapy water will kill all mosquito eggs, preventing stick insects and larvae from developing. By trapping mosquitoes this way, your home will soon be free from the nuisance of mosquitoes.

Using dried orange peel, grapefruit peel

When eating oranges, grapefruits, don’t throw away the peels because the essential oils in the peels of these 3 types of fruits have a fairly effective repellent effect on mosquitoes. The aromatic essential oils in orange and grapefruit peels are very attractive to humans, but they are something that mosquitoes have to stay away from. To repel mosquitoes, just use a few pieces of dried orange and grapefruit peels and burn them on fire.

Although this method only works for a short time, about one session, it also helps your space to have a more pleasant fragrance.

A mosquito trap made from a fan

This trap uses a fan in your house, cover this cloth screen in front of the fan. Make sure to cover it tightly so that mosquitoes cannot escape. Then use a flashlight with purple or green light behind the fan. The light from the flashlight will attract the attention of mosquitoes and lure them into the trap. At this point, your screen will catch the bodies of these mosquitoes before they have a chance to fly away.

Turn on the flashlight and set the fan to a low speed in an automatic rotating mode. Remember to place the fan in a dark position with no light for the trap to work best!
