The truth is, you use the toilet right after the bedroom in your house. The toilet needs to be clean, fragrant, and beautiful for you to feel comfortable and relaxed at home. Here are some small tips to eliminate the unpleasant smell in the toilet after use.

Close the lid and flush

Always make sure you flush the toilet after use. Closing the lid is a smart and polite trick to prevent others from hearing the noise of flushing water.

Use vinegar and salt

This is also an effective method. You can place a jar of vinegar in the toilet, and there will be no more unpleasant smell. Additionally, you can dissolve a cup of salt and pour it down the drain to eliminate the odor.

Dehumidify

Dampness is the main culprit causing the odor. Do not hang wet towels in the room, especially in small spaces. After showering, hang them in a well-ventilated area to dry quickly.

Moreover, salt is a useful moisture absorber. A small bowl of salt can be used for 2 to 3 months until the salt turns dark brown. This is a sign that the salt has reached saturation and can no longer absorb moisture.

Use ground coffee

You just need to put coffee in a wide-mouthed bowl or plate and place it in the bathroom. The coffee will absorb all the odor, making the room smell of coffee, which is very pleasant.

Ventilate

The toilet needs to be equipped with a ventilation fan. When using the toilet, remember to turn on the fan to draw the moisture out, circulate the air, keep the toilet dry, and prevent mold.

However, no matter which method you apply, you still need to maintain cleanliness in the toilet to prevent additional odors. Always check the internal drainage system of the toilet. Once the toilet is clogged, it is truly “irreparable.” When the drain is clogged, it will emit an unpleasant odor and adversely affect the toilet, so do not neglect this matter.

Additionally, it is recommended to clean the toilet thoroughly every week. Toilet cleaners often have an unpleasant smell. Instead of wearing a mask and gloves, you only need to prepare vinegar and baking soda (readily available at baking supply stores) in a ratio of 1 cup vinegar + 1 tablespoon baking soda. Pour the mixture into the toilet, wait 15-30 minutes, then flush. However, don’t forget to scrub the outside and the back of the toilet, where there are many bacteria as well.
