1 Reduced Time for Accurate Test Results
According to Lieutenant General Do Quyet, Director of the Military Medical Academy, the kit produced in Vietnam in large quantities has good quality equivalent to the quality of the kit used by the world. At the same time, the kit is highly accurate, and the time for test results is shortened.
Lieutenant Colonel Ho Anh Son, Deputy Director of the Institute of Military Medicine and Pharmacy, Military Medical Academy, and head of the research topic, said the COVID-19 test kit is manufactured under strict regulations on a line that meets ISO 13485 standards. The laboratory conducting the research meets ISO Class 8 standards. In addition, the kit is tested for sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and repeatability. The results showed that these criteria are equivalent to the reagents produced by the US CDC and WHO.
Especially, the kit was evaluated on patient samples with 05 types of popular equipment in medical facilities, giving accurate and reliable results at all devices and all tests. The National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology has confirmed that the reagent is recommended for detecting COVID-19.
2 Reduced Cost
Lieutenant Colonel Son also shared that since we are a few weeks behind the world, we can take advantage of these benefits to optimize the kit. The kit created by Vietnam has a capacity of up to 96 samples per run and takes more than an hour to run, four times the capacity of the CDC’s kit. the US offers in the early stages.
According to the information, the cost of the kit created by Vietnam is expected to be 1/4 of the cost of a similar kit from abroad.
Lieutenant Colonel Son emphasized, “This is just the initial success because to affirm the better quality of a product, we need more time to continue optimizing it. This topic was assigned to us for 18 months.”
The Ministry of Health has temporarily licensed and mass-produced this Kit for six months. Lieutenant General Do Quyet said, “We strictly comply with the regulations of the Ministry of Health and continue the following experiments, coordinating with the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology to verify and improve the accuracy and effectiveness of the technique. We will report to the Ministry of Health monthly. After six months, with the results of clinical trials, we will review and submit them to the Ministry of Health for permission to use it.” – said Lieutenant General Do Quyet.
