1. Where to Apply for a Passport in Hanoi?

For those with permanent residence in Hanoi or long-term temporary residence, the application process takes place at the Immigration Management Office in two locations, depending on the district.

The Immigration Management Office is located at 44 Pham Ngoc Thach, Trung Tu Ward, Dong Da District, Hanoi.

Documents Required for Passport Application

Documents for Adults (General Documents)

  • Passport application form X01 – This can be filled out online or at the Immigration Management Office.
  • Identification document: Either your Citizen ID or Residence Book.
  • If you have permanent residence in Hanoi, bring your permanent residence book. If you are temporarily residing in Hanoi, you will need a temporary residence book, which you should obtain beforehand and bring with you.

Documents for Children Under 14 Years Old

In addition to the above, you will need form X01, photos, and a copy of the birth certificate. If the applicant is a foster parent, guardian, or sponsor, they must provide legal documentation to sign the application form on the child’s behalf. For temporary residence, a temporary residence book is required.

Passport Application Procedure in Hanoi

Step 1: Go to the Immigration Management Office at either location and fill out the passport application form.

Step 2: Bring your Citizen ID or Residence Book to the registration location. If you are temporarily residing in Hanoi, bring your temporary residence book. Then, wait for your name to be called and have your photo taken. For children under 14, bring form X01, which should be certified and sealed by the local police, along with 2 photos (4×6 with a white background) and 2 copies of the birth certificate (1 original and 1 copy).

Step 3: When your name is called, proceed to the reception desk with your documents for verification and authentication. You will then receive a receipt and pay a fee of VND 200,000. Provide your address so that the passport can be mailed to you or pick it up at the Immigration Management Office of Hanoi Police Department.

Note: The passport will be issued within 8 days from the date of receiving the full set of valid documents as prescribed.
