Frequently asked questions

Chip-enabled cards provide a more secure and seamless transaction experience. They offer better protection against fraud and unauthorized transactions as the chip creates a unique transaction code that cannot be used again.

The chip in the card encrypts transaction information, making it more secure. When you insert your card into a chip-enabled terminal, the chip communicates with the terminal to authenticate and authorize the transaction. This process is more secure than traditional magnetic stripe cards, which simply read static information from the stripe.

Chip-enabled cards are becoming increasingly common worldwide. Many countries have already adopted this technology, and it is slowly becoming the new standard for secure transactions.

Upgrading to a chip-enabled card provides added security and peace of mind. It reduces the risk of fraud and ensures that your transactions are seamless and safe. Additionally, chip-enabled cards are widely accepted globally, making them convenient for international travelers.

You can contact your bank or financial institution to request an upgrade to a chip-enabled card. They will guide you through the process, which may involve replacing your current ATM card with a new chip-enabled one.

One minor inconvenience of chip-enabled cards is that the transaction process may take a few seconds longer than traditional magnetic stripe cards. This is because of the additional time required for the chip to encrypt and process the transaction data.

When using a chip-enabled card, you may be prompted to insert your card into the terminal and leave it there for the duration of the transaction. This is different from swiping, where you quickly swipe the card and remove it. Simply follow the instructions on the terminal for a smooth transaction.
