The new Miss Vietnam has sparked controversies due to her inferior performance in the Q&A round compared to the first runner-up

Compared to previous years, Miss Vietnam 2024 was considered less appealing, partly due to the absence of the former organizing partner. Additionally, this long-standing beauty pageant took place amid numerous well-invested and well-publicized contests, resulting in less attention for this year’s contestants.

This year, the finale was held in Hue City. Unlike previous years, the final night evoked mixed reactions regarding the results, organization, stage design, lighting, and more.

Before winning the Miss Vietnam title, Ha Truc Linh worked as a photo model and was crowned Miss Finance and Marketing University in 2023.

Regarding the results, all three winners were highly regarded among the Top 25 contestants. However, the newly crowned Miss Vietnam, Truc Linh, failed to satisfy the audience with her response during the crucial Q&A session for the Top 3. Specifically, Truc Linh’s answer to a question about AI application in modern life fell short of expectations and was less impressive than that of the first runner-up, Chau Anh.

When asked about AI, Truc Linh replied: “AI has advanced significantly, and I acknowledge its benefits. As a marketing student, I have utilized AI on multiple occasions. Yet, I realize that without providing instructions, we cannot obtain optimal solutions from AI. Therefore, we must continuously enhance our skills and knowledge to achieve sustainable development.”

On the other hand, Chau Anh, the first runner-up, impressed the audience with her eloquent and intelligent response to a question about Hue, earning enthusiastic applause. Many viewers expressed their regret that Chau Anh did not win the crown. Numerous online comments suggested that Chau Anh deserved the Miss Vietnam title: “The first runner-up gave the best answer,” “Feeling sorry for Chau Anh,” “The new Miss Vietnam is beautiful, but her answer was not that impressive,” “Chau Anh had the best answer, but the judges preferred Truc Linh,” “Is there an issue with the results? The contestant with the best answer only became the first runner-up?”…

Many viewers believe that the first runner-up, Chau Anh, excels in both beauty and intelligence, earning more sympathy than the new Miss Vietnam.

Online communities favor Chau Anh’s response over that of the Miss Vietnam winner.

However, some argue that beauty pageant results are based on contestants’ performance throughout the competition, and the finale scores are only one factor in the overall evaluation. Nonetheless, the majority agree that this year’s Top 3 are all beautiful and well-educated.
