Having a clean kitchen is a top priority for me, especially when it comes to the dishwashing area. This area is always wet and prone to dirt, mold, and unpleasant odors if not cleaned regularly and correctly.
After washing dishes each evening, I make sure to wipe down the sink with soap and rinse it thoroughly. However, once a month, I perform a deep cleaning process to remove any stains and residue that have built up inside the sink and around the drain. Surprisingly, all it takes is a cup of flour to scrub the sink and make it clean and shiny like new.
To start, I clean the sink with warm soapy water and thoroughly rinse it. Then, using a dry towel, I wipe it from the inside to the edges. It’s important to ensure the sink is completely dry, as even a little water can cause the flour to clump together.
Once the sink is dry, I sprinkle flour evenly over the surface and use a paper towel to scrub it, starting from the outside and gradually moving inward. I pay extra attention to the drain and any small grooves where grease and dirt may accumulate. As I scrub, I notice that all the stains, white spots, and water marks quickly disappear. If necessary, I repeat the process with more flour until the sink is completely clean. Afterwards, I clean up any excess flour, making sure not to let too much fall into the drain to avoid clogging it.
Flour is a cheap and effective way to clean and restore the shine to a dishwashing sink. It can also be used to polish other stainless steel items in the kitchen, such as faucets, knives, pots, and pans. Having a clean kitchen with a shiny dishwashing sink is something I take pride in when guests visit my house. I encourage you to give this method a try, as the process may seem messy at first but becomes easier with practice and delivers satisfying results.
