Eating slowly
A simple concept in weight loss is eating slower and consuming fewer calories, but very few of us do that. An evaluation of eating speed and kilojoule intake published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition shows a correlation between eating speed and calorie consumption, where many of us just need to eat slower if we want to eat less.
Therefore, the general rule for weight loss is to extend the main meal for at least 20 minutes and increase salad and vegetables in the meal.
Not getting distracted while eating
This method is also straightforward: when you sit down and focus only on eating, you not only consume fewer calories in that meal but also consume fewer calories throughout the day. A study on eating behavior published in the Appetite journal shows that dieters consume more calories in their lunch while watching TV compared to dieters who are not distracted by other activities.
Having smaller plates
Researchers at the University of Cambridge recently conducted an evaluation of eating habits and reported that simply choosing a smaller plate or bowl to eat from will result in consuming fewer kilojoules.
