Apples

When cutting an apple, instead of cutting it into 4 pieces with the core and seeds intact, place the apple upside down on a cutting board, use a knife to make four slits around the apple stem. This way, you can cut the apple into 8 evenly sliced pieces and remove the whole core.

Grapes and cherry tomatoes

When cutting grapes, cherry tomatoes, or any small round fruit without a stem, try this method: gently squeeze the grapes (or other fruit) between two plates, then slide a sharp knife between the two plates and you will easily cut a bunch of grapes or cherry tomatoes.

Peaches

If you need to peel a peach quickly, here is a solution: take a peeler and cut an “X” into the bottom of each peach, then dip them into a pot of boiling water and you can easily remove the peach skin in just 30 seconds.

Pomegranates

If you, like most people, find pomegranate delicious but the eating process too messy, try this method. First, cut the bottom of the pomegranate to create a flat surface, then use a sharp knife to make a small cut at the top to create a point. Continue using the knife to score deep lines from the top point down to the flat surface of the pomegranate, be careful not to cut into the seeds. Once scored, you can separate the pomegranate sections and soak them in a bowl of clean water. Then gently push out the seeds with your thumb, it’s that simple.

Mangoes

Ripe mangoes can be difficult to peel, but there is a simple trick to quickly remove the skin. Choose a glass that fits the size of the mango, cut the mango in half along its pit and place it over the glass so that the skin is outside the mouth of the glass. Then use your hand to gently push the mango down into the glass, the flesh will remain intact and the skin will be peeled off cleanly.

Kiwis

The easiest way to peel a kiwi is to forget the knife and grab a spoon. With this clever technique, all you have to do is cut the kiwi in half and scoop out the flesh with a spoon, it’s gentle and simple.

Strawberries

With strawberries, you also don’t need a knife. To remove the stem from the fruit, take a straw and insert it into the bottom of the strawberry and push upwards until the stem pops out, then simply and skillfully pull it out.
