Sharing on Daily Mail on December 15, Hayes said: “Jasper (her 4-year-old son) has always been a person with good critical thinking, so Jasper has never really believed in Santa Claus. It always points out that a man dressed like Santa Claus in a shopping mall or at parties is just people in disguise, so I told the truth that Santa Claus does not exist.”

Hayes added: “Jasper is a truly intelligent child. I am always open, honest, and realistic, so Jasper was not shocked or uncomfortable when my son reached an age where he needed to understand that Santa Claus is just a story.”

Hayes’s husband, Sam Pritchard (22 years old), also agreed with his wife’s decision.

“We both completely agree on this. We want to be honest with Jasper,” Pritchard said.

Although not believing in Santa Claus, Hayes said the whole family still enjoys Christmas and wakes up early to open presents like everyone else.

Hayes said: “If you ask Jasper if Christmas is his favorite day, my son will answer enthusiastically ‘yes’.”

Hayes recalled: “When a Santa Claus advertisement appeared, Jasper asked me why people dressed up as Santa Claus, and I explained the story of St. Nicholas living hundreds of years ago. But then Jasper came to the conclusion that St. Nick is too old and dead, and that’s why St. Nick cannot give gifts to children anymore.”

Some TikTok users have criticized Hayes and Pritchard in the comments on Hayes’ video.

“The problem is that they ruined Christmas for other children who still believe in Santa Claus,” one person criticized.

“Fortunately, my parents are not like that, and I still love Christmas with all my heart,” another person said.

Hayes said that despite the backlash and criticism from social media, Hayes feels happy because she has honestly told her child that Santa Claus is not real.

Hayes is proud that her son has come to the conclusion that Santa Claus is not real.
