Rice is a familiar food that every Vietnamese family has. Rice is not only the most basic staple food, but also an effective beauty ingredient. Rice contains vitamins, minerals, proteins, and antioxidants. Momilactones A and B (MA and MB) compounds and tricin in rice grains are effective anti-aging compounds that help prevent wrinkles. Rice that has not been polished contains a higher amount of vitamin B1.

Nowadays, rice bran is considered a popular face mask that is widely sold in beauty salons. Instead of buying it, you can grind rice into powder at home. It is recommended to buy rice that has not been polished to make use of the nutrients in rice bran.

Rice powder is a beauty method that helps reduce dark spots, whiten the skin, remove excess oil, and exfoliate dead skin.

How to make rice powder

You can buy rice that has not been de-husked, or use regular rice.

Grind the rice into powder using a dry grinder. If you don’t have a dry grinder, you can ask for grinding services, which is also very cheap, around 10,000 yen per kilogram of rice.

When grinding dry rice powder, mix it with yogurt, or clean water, rose water, into a thick mixture. Note that you should use it on the same day as mixing.

How to take care of the skin with rice powder

Apply rice powder face mask for whitening and treating acne.

Apply the rice powder mixture to your face and then relax for 20 minutes before rinsing it off with clean water. You can combine rice powder with green tea powder, coconut oil, or eggs.

Exfoliating massage

Apply the rice powder mixture to your face and gently massage to help exfoliate dead skin. Massage gently to avoid scratching or causing discomfort to the skin.

Whitening bath with rice powder

Use the rice powder mixture for whitening bath. Wet your body and then gently massage the rice powder mixture all over your body. After that, let the nutrients penetrate into the skin for about 15-20 minutes before rinsing with clean water.

Fermented rice powder

You can mix rice powder with water and let it ferment for about 24 hours. Then use this water to bathe and wash your hair. After that, rinse with clean water to nourish your hair and take care of your skin.

You should use rice powder about 2-3 times a week, and not continuously. Apply the face mask for only 20 minutes, not longer, to avoid the nutrients and moisture from being absorbed back into the powder.
