Olive oil is a type of vegetable oil extracted from the olive tree, a plant species with many important roles in the Oleaceae family. Olive oil has many beauty benefits and is used as an ingredient to improve the skin’s imperfections.
Olive oil contains components that are beneficial for the skin, such as healthy fats, antioxidants, and vitamin E, which can help modify pigmentation on the skin, making it whiter. Olive oil also contains organic compounds that help the skin turn white and pink after a short period of use. Olive oil contains vitamins A and E with anti-inflammatory properties and moisturizing support.
How to take care of your skin with olive oil
Exfoliate with olive oil and lemon juice
You can use a mixture of olive oil and lemon juice to brighten your skin. The brightening effect of lemon juice comes from citric acid – a weak acid that helps exfoliate dead skin cells.
Olive oil with honey and fresh milk
This formula helps make your skin smooth and soft, especially for wrinkles, large eye bags, or dark and dull skin.
Mix 3 tablespoons of olive oil, 2 tablespoons of honey, and 2 tablespoons of fresh milk (without sugar) into a smooth mixture and apply a thin layer on the skin for about 20 minutes. Rinse your face with lukewarm water and finish with a splash of cold water to restore the skin’s balance. Do this twice a week, and you will feel your skin rejuvenated.
Olive oil with vinegar
Mix 1/2 cup of vinegar, 1/2 cup of olive oil, and 1 cup of water, then use a cotton pad to soak the mixture and apply it to the skin. Apply evenly around the face and leave it on for about 3 minutes, then rinse with water. Do this twice a week for the best results.
Remove makeup with olive oil
Olive oil can be used as a natural makeup remover. Soak olive oil in a cotton pad and gently wipe off the makeup.
Whiten skin with olive oil and bath milk
Bathing with olive oil and milk will make your skin soft, smooth, and bright. Just keep a bottle of olive oil in the bathroom, and every time you take a bath, add a few drops of olive oil to the bath milk. Use this mixture to apply all over your body and massage for 5 – 10 minutes, then rinse off with water.
Moisturize
Olive oil is excellent for moisturizing the skin. You can soak olive oil in a cotton pad or take a sufficient amount of oil into your hands and apply it to your skin after cleansing and patting dry. Rub your hands together to warm the oil and help it absorb better into the skin. Then use a tissue to remove excess oil.
