When combined with powerful skincare components like niacinamide and glycerin, this rose water will smooth and erase dark spots, which can be annoying. Soaking rice in water and then filtering the rice, the remaining nutrient-rich water has beauty benefits for your hair and skin. Adding a few more ingredients will help you save a lot on cosmetics.
Ingredients
Rice water: Rice water has been used in skincare for centuries, especially in Asian beauty traditions. Although lacking studies, it is believed to have moisturizing and soothing effects, reducing redness.
Niacinamide: Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3 that, when used in skincare products like toner, can help improve skin elasticity, reduce redness and inflammation, and fade pigmentation.
Glycerin: Glycerin provides instant and long-lasting moisture, making the skin softer and smoother. Additionally, it helps create a protective barrier on the skin, preventing moisture loss and protecting the skin from environmental pollutants.
Instructions
Put clean rice in a clean bowl and add water. Let the rice soak for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. During this time, the water will absorb some of the rice’s nutrients and become cloudy.
After half an hour, strain the rice water into a separate container, discarding the rice (or saving it for cooking and eating later if desired). The filtered liquid is your rice water.
Add niacinamide and glycerin to the mixture. Stir well to ensure they are evenly distributed in the rice water.
Transfer the prepared rice water into a clean, empty bottle or container. A small spray bottle works well for easy application. Or a bottle with a lid will be suitable if you prefer to apply the toner with a cotton round.
Some ingredients that can be combined with rice water for beauty purposes
Aloe gel or aloe vera juice: Aloe vera is known for its soothing and calming properties. It can help reduce redness, irritation, and inflammation, making it an excellent addition to homemade toner.
Vitamin C: Vitamin C helps protect the skin from the harmful effects of UV rays and stimulates collagen production, promoting youthful skin. Just make sure to apply it gently as it can make the skin more sensitive to sunlight.
Lavender or chamomile essential oil: These essential oils not only add a pleasant fragrance but also have soothing and calming properties for the skin.
