He then transitioned to a plant-based diet, stopped drinking alcohol, managed stress, controlled energy intake, and started drinking a glass of lemon water every morning.

Lemon water has become a secret weapon for many people. It is also a popular habit among Vietnamese people. Nowadays, many nutrition experts in Vietnam recommend drinking lemon water daily to maintain health, detoxify the body, enhance skin beauty, and help maintain a good figure.

Lemon water is rich in vitamin C and lemon essential oil, which are beneficial for mental well-being. Proper consumption of lemon water daily helps boost immune system. Lemons are a great source of vitamin C, an antioxidant that benefits the body and provides nutrients for brighter skin. Lemon also contains potassium, a mineral that strengthens the nervous system and brain.

Lemon water helps balance the body’s pH levels as it has strong alkaline properties. Citric acid (the sour taste of lemons) does not produce acidity in the body like meat and sugar do, but instead has alkaline properties. This alkalinity helps alkalize the blood. When the body’s pH is low, we become susceptible to diseases, inflammation within the body, and external symptoms such as dark spots, dullness, acne, and illnesses.

Lemon water helps cleanse the digestive system, remove unnecessary waste from the body, and acts as a necessary acid for digestion. It significantly reduces symptoms of heartburn and constipation.

Tips for drinking lemon water:

Use half a lemon squeezed into 500ml of warm water with a temperature equivalent to body temperature; avoid using hot water as it can destroy enzymes and vitamins in lemons. Remember to include the lemon peel to enhance the alkaline properties. Drink this in the morning before eating.

Avoid making the lemon water too concentrated as it may taste too sour. If you have gastric ulcers, try it out first to see if it suits you; if not, drink it after eating as you may line your stomach.

You can add a little natural honey to your glass of lemon water to enhance its skin beauty benefits.
