According to The Sun, renowned dermatologist and founder of a decade-old American skincare and body care brand, Amber Olson Rourke, shares her top three anti-aging products: “The best anti-aging products everyone should have are a cleanser, a vitamin C serum, and a broad-spectrum sunscreen.”

1. Cleanser

Keeping your skin clean helps prevent premature aging caused by pollution and free radicals,” emphasizes Rourke, highlighting the importance of a proper daily cleansing routine.

The expert explains that as we age, our skin’s ability to shed dead cells and renew itself slows down. Proper cleansing stimulates cell renewal and gives way to healthier, more vibrant skin.

2. Vitamin C Serum

Rourke touts vitamin C as a powerhouse ingredient in any skincare regimen, as it works to “repair the damage” that has already occurred.

Vitamin C serums help rejuvenate damaged skin for a youthful appearance.

She adds that this antioxidant can also prevent future damage by “scavenging free radicals.” An excess of free radicals can break down collagen, leading to wrinkles, dark spots, and loss of skin elasticity.

3. Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen

A Scripps Health study reinforces this: “Daily users of broad-spectrum sunscreen showed 24% less skin aging than those who used sunscreen intermittently.”

Rourke recommends opting for broad-spectrum sunscreen for daily use, as it offers superior protection against the damaging effects of UVA and UVB rays compared to traditional sunscreens.

Additionally, Rourke underscores the importance of hydration and adequate sleep:

“Drinking water keeps skin cells plump and hydrated, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and other signs of aging. It also protects the skin from free radical damage, which can lead to premature aging.” Rourke advises.

“During sleep, our bodies, brains, and skin repair and rejuvenate. Blood flow increases to produce more collagen and growth hormones.” Rourke adds.
