Sunscreen
Nothing ages our skin as quickly and consistently as repeated exposure to ultraviolet rays. If we’re not using sunscreen and protecting our faces from UV rays, we’re essentially wasting our money on other skincare products.
It can cause wrinkles, fine lines, discoloration, red spots, and thinning of the skin. Sunscreen should be applied to the face daily, even in the winter. Pay attention to the SPF protection – opt for SPF 30 or higher, and reapply every two hours if you plan to be outdoors.
Retinol
Retinol is one of the most well-researched skincare ingredients, proven to maintain thicker skin compared to those who don’t use it. Using retinol daily in your nighttime routine is the best option.
If you’re concerned about irritation, try using it less frequently or opt for a milder version. These substances stimulate collagen production at the cellular level and help break up brown spots. Be sure to use SPF in the morning, especially if you’re using retinol at night.
Vitamin C
Topical vitamin C stimulates collagen production. Use vitamin C and retinol together or split them up by using Vitamin C in the morning. You can also find many moisturizers that contain vitamin C.
Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic Acid acts like a sponge, drawing water in and retaining it to make your skin look plumper and more hydrated. HA gives you instant gratification. It can also help minimize the appearance of wrinkles and provide much-needed moisture to mature skin.
Niacinamide
This vitamin B derivative reduces inflammation, improves the appearance of pores, and increases your skin’s hydration levels. It even helps your skin absorb active ingredients, making it a great step to add to your skincare routine.
These five ingredients are considered essential in skincare. You can find them at various price points, and they will help mature skin look resilient and healthy.
