T-shirts are a popular choice for their versatility and comfort. The soft and smooth fabric, especially when made from gentle cotton, is friendly to sensitive skin. However, to maintain the beauty of your t-shirts, you should keep in mind that they are prone to stretching when subjected to strong pulling force and can lose their elasticity when soaked in harsh detergents. Therefore, it is important to take care of your t-shirts to keep them looking new and maintaining their shape.
Hand wash or gentle machine wash: It is best to hand wash t-shirts. When wringing them out, be gentle and avoid excessive force as it can stretch the fabric and distort the shape. If using a washing machine, place the t-shirts in a laundry bag and select a gentle wash mode, such as one for delicate fabrics like silk and wool.
Choose the right detergent: Strong detergents can stretch the fabric of t-shirts. Therefore, when washing t-shirts, use a mild detergent and avoid using detergents with strong cleaning properties. Also, do not pour the detergent directly onto the clothes. Instead, dissolve the detergent in cold water and then soak the clothes in it.
Pay attention to the inside-out position when washing and drying: Before washing and drying, turn the t-shirts inside out, especially colored ones, to prevent fading. T-shirts are not prone to wrinkles, so they are often dried in the sun. However, it is advisable to choose a gentle sunlight, as t-shirts dried in gentle sunlight will maintain their softness and not become stiff.
Avoid excessive pulling force on the t-shirts: T-shirts are stretchable, so when subjected to strong pulling force, they will stretch and lose their shape. If you buy t-shirts with built-in hangers, use the hanger strings instead of stretching them horizontally or hanging them on the shoulders, as these actions can cause the hanger strings to get twisted. In case the designer did not include hanger strings, you can make your own, or simply dry the t-shirts horizontally to prevent excessive elongation.
Pay attention to printed t-shirts: If your t-shirts have printed designs on them, avoid exposing them to direct sunlight and do not fold them with the printed sides touching each other. This can cause the printed designs to stick together and peel off quickly.
Be cautious when ironing: T-shirts cannot withstand high temperatures. Therefore, if you need to iron them, use steam or select a low-heat setting to avoid burning or stretching the fabric.
