Our skin ages over time, that’s hard to avoid. However, there are factors that accelerate this process that we often overlook. These factors include sun exposure, electronic devices, lack of sleep, poor sleep quality, and inadequate nutrition.
One of the things that is very close to us but very harmful to our health and beauty is our cellphone. Nowadays, cellphones are extremely important, but because we don’t know the harm they can cause, we are careless. Scientists recommend that we limit the use of cellphones to avoid the negative effects they can have on our health. However, many people have the habit of using their cellphones until they feel sleepy. They leave their cellphones right by their bedside, so they can touch them or use them as an alarm clock. This habit is extremely detrimental to our health and skin.
The blue light from cellphones has a similar effect on our skin as ultraviolet rays. They silently cause dark spots, grayness, the formation of wrinkles and reduce collagen production. The photons emitted from cellphones also affect our sleep, preventing us from getting a deep sleep. When we don’t get enough deep sleep, our body cannot fully recover, which affects our liver, organs, and eventually our skin. Having the cellphone on the bedside table makes it easy to touch it and wake up in the middle of the night. Poor sleep is the number one cause of accelerated aging, saggy and wrinkled skin, fatigue, poor memory, and lack of flexibility.
The blue light from cellphones also reduces melatonin production in the brain, affecting our biological clock. Excessive exposure to blue light can make you tired, cause eye strain, and quickly deteriorate your skin.
In addition, the surface of our cellphones may seem clean, but they are actually full of bacteria, especially in the crevices and the casing. Sharing cellphones or regularly bringing them into the bathroom exposes them to more bacteria. These bacteria reside in the crevices of cellphones and when placed on the bedside table, they have the opportunity to come into contact with our skin. This is the reason why our skin is prone to acne and oiliness. Therefore, the optimal approach is to avoid using cellphones before bedtime. Keep them as far away as possible, and definitely not on the bedside table, even when they are turned off.
You should also be mindful of not placing the cellphone too close to your skin, as it can cause discomfort, redness, and increased contact between bacteria and your skin.
