Huyen Tran, currently residing in Ho Chi Minh City, has recently shared on social media about the experiences she has gained after 6 months of raising her young child. Mothers can refer to these experiences to learn lessons and be more effective in raising their children!
1 No need to strictly follow any parenting method
In books or on the internet, there are many different methods, courses, and instructions on how to raise and educate children for first-time parents. However, you don’t have to necessarily apply those methods to raise and care for your child. Depending on the situation, conditions, and the child’s health, you can adapt and know your limits.

2 The child must have their own sleeping place, only for sleeping
The child will sleep better if you arrange a specific position for them to sleep with familiar lighting, temperature, and objects. Every time you put the child in that position, they will understand that it’s time to sleep.

3 Don’t obsess over breastfeeding
In some unavoidable cases, pregnant women can only maintain breastfeeding for a few months, even though they want to breastfeed for as long as possible.
However, instead of worrying about not being able to continue breastfeeding, spend more time cuddling, playing with your child, and find safe alternative sources of milk.

4 Take the child outside to play early
Huyen Tran takes her child to the park for a walk every cool afternoon starting from when the child was only 1 month old. This helps her realize that the child will adapt better to weather conditions such as sunlight or dust.
When the child was 2 months old, Huyen Tran took the child on a car trip to the countryside. By 3.5 months old, the child had already traveled by plane. Thanks to these experiences, she is now confident in exploring the world with her child.

5 Don’t rely on a “standard” weight chart to evaluate the child
The weight chart used to evaluate the child’s health is not completely accurate. It’s best to use a growth chart to monitor the child month by month, as each child is born with different weight and height.
Just by observing the growth chart, comparing with previous weeks, and seeing the child develop better than before is already good.

6 Always have a “preventive healthcare contact list”
When she gave birth, Huyen Tran thought about where to take her child for health check-ups if there were any health issues. In the list of healthcare contact addresses, there will be one or a few reliable doctors whom she can call to ask about the child’s condition whenever the child is sick.

7 Use only one type of bottle
According to Huyen Tran, she doesn’t switch between different types of bottles, but only buys the same type of bottle for her child. If needed, she only increases the nipple size. This helps the child adapt better and not get bored with feeding.

8 Don’t cut the nails too short
Although nails shouldn’t be too long as they can scratch the face, mothers shouldn’t cut the nails too short, leaving a small white line at the end of the nails.
Cutting the nails too deep will gradually cause the nails to grow inward, which can affect the child’s finger and cause pain in the long run.

9 Don’t clean the tongue every day
For newborns, there’s no need to clean the tongue every day, especially when breastfeeding, because breast milk doesn’t leave residue like formula milk does. Besides, the human tongue has a self-cleaning mechanism with saliva.
According to Huyen Tran, she cleans her child’s tongue every 3-4 days or when she sees a lot of white on the tongue. This helps the child not to be scared of tongue cleaning and reduces excessive crying and fussiness.

10 Wash the bottom instead of using wet wipes
Although using wet wipes for hygiene is convenient, it is also expensive and not completely clean. Therefore, it’s best to wash the child’s bottom with clean water and use a dry cloth to wipe it dry. This method is both economical and dry, without the risk of diaper rash.
