What is the Health Insurance Card Number?

Previously, the health insurance card number had 15 digits, but since April 1, 2021, it only has 10 digits.

Step 1: Access the website of the Vietnam Social Insurance with the address HERE.

Step 2: On the homepage, click on Online Inquiry.

Step 3: Select Health Insurance Card Number Inquiry.

  • Province/City and Ward/Commune: The local area where you registered for health insurance.
  • ID Card/Certificate/Passport: Enter the information of your citizen identification card, identity card, or passport to confirm your identity.
  • Date of Birth: Enter your full date of birth.
  • Full name: Enter your accurate full name.
  • Health Insurance Number: This is the number on your health insurance card.

After entering all the information, remember to check the box I’m not a robot to confirm that the information you entered is filled out by yourself.

Step 5: Click on Search to check the social insurance number and the health insurance card number returned.

This method can be applied to look up the health insurance card number for children and students similar to when looking up the health insurance card number for other groups of people, such as workers in state-owned or private agencies.

Looking up the health insurance card number through the VssID app

VssID is a mobile application of the Vietnam Social Insurance. This is an application that helps you track, manage information, and enjoy the benefits when participating in social insurance and universal health insurance. This is also the official and only health insurance card number inquiry application at the moment. However, this application may not be suitable for looking up health insurance card numbers for students because this group of people cannot register for a VssID account.

Currently, VssID fully supports the two most popular mobile platforms, Android and iOS. Users only need to download VssID and follow the instructions to easily look up the health insurance card number.

Step 1: Access the Google Play Store or App Store. Enter the keyword VssID to search for the Vietnam Social Insurance application. Currently, the application requires Android phones running Android 4.1 and iPhones running iOS 9 or later.

Step 2: Click Install to proceed with installing VssID on your phone.

Step 3: After the installation is complete, click on the application to start using it.

Step 4: If you already have a VssID account provided by your workplace, you can log in directly with your VssID account or log in with your VneID account conveniently.

If you don’t have an account, you need to register for a VssID account by clicking on the Register Account button.

Step 5: Enter all the required information, including providing an image of your identification card. Then click Continue. Note that each VssID registered phone number is only used for 1 social insurance number.

Step 6: Select the address of the Social Insurance Agency to receive the VssID account registration. Choose the nearest location to your local area. Then select Receive the application form via email to easily download the application form to your device.

Step 7: Fill out the form after it has been downloaded and printed out. Then, bring the application form and your identification card to the chosen Social Insurance Agency to complete the VssID registration process.

Step 8: After having a VssID account, you can log in to the VssID application. Information about social insurance, personal health insurance card number will be displayed in detail in the application.

Currently, the Vietnam Social Insurance has supported users to complete procedures immediately through calling the hotline of the Vietnam Social Insurance at 19009068. After calling this number, you will be transferred to extension 4 to be assisted by consultants to complete the VssID registration process.

Looking up the health insurance card number through the card issuance list saved at the issuing unit

You can look up the health insurance card number through the list and records saved at the local Social Insurance Agency or at authorized health insurance card issuing agents.

Looking up the health insurance card number through the VNeID application

VNeID is a national digital identity application developed by the Ministry of Public Security and is a place that gathers quite complete personal documents. In addition to information about citizen identification cards, driver’s licenses, people can now easily add health insurance cards to VNeID. From there, people can quickly look up the health insurance card number whenever they need it without using traditional paper health insurance cards.

Unfortunately, like VssID, the VNeID application is not suitable for looking up health insurance card numbers for children because this group of people cannot meet the conditions to register for a VNeID account and have contact with smartphones.

Step 1: Access the VNeID application on your phone and log in to your personal identity account.

Step 2: On the VNeID homepage, click on Electronic Health Record > enter the pre-installed Passcode to directly view the health insurance card number.

Step 3: If you want to see more details about your personal health insurance card, switch to the Document Wallet tab > Health Insurance Card

Step 4: Enter the VNeID passcode to access health insurance card information. The detailed information includes the health insurance card number, start and expiration dates of the card, and the initial medical treatment registration location.

Note: You need to declare integrating the health insurance card into VNeID and wait for approval to be able to view and look up the health insurance card number.

Step 5: Click the gear icon > select View Health Insurance Card Image to view the detailed image of your health insurance card in scanned form.

Looking up the health insurance card number through the hotline number

Users who want to look up the health insurance card number can call the Vietnam Social Insurance Call Center through the hotline number 19009068 and follow the instructions of the hotline operator. After that, the hotline will provide results related to the health insurance card number information you requested.

In addition, users can also directly contact the local Social Insurance Agency or cultural post offices at the commune/ward/city level, or social insurance premium collection agents to look up the health insurance card number of individuals.

Checking the expiry date of the health insurance card

Checking the expiration date of the health insurance card helps voluntary social insurance participants proactively make payments to avoid the case where the health insurance card expires and they are not entitled to benefits related to medical examination and treatment at healthcare facilities.

Step 1: Log in to the website of the Vietnam Social Insurance with the address HERE.

Step 2: Select the Online Inquiry section.

Step 3: In the Online Inquiry bar on the right, click on Health Insurance Card Value Inquiry.

Step 4: Enter the information such as social insurance number/health insurance card number, full name, date of birth.

Other information such as the health insurance card number, full name, date of birth, address, initial medical treatment registration location, card expiration date will also be provided by the Vietnam Social Insurance.
