The tiger tongue plant is a familiar plant for families. This plant not only serves as a decoration for the house, air purification but also has good feng shui significance, helping to ward off bad luck and attract fortune to the house.

The tiger tongue plant does not require complicated care. However, to make this plant bloom, you need to pay attention to providing nutrients for the plant.

One of the good fertilizers for plants, with low cost and easy to find, is soybeans.

Watering the tiger tongue plant with fermented soybean water

The water boiled from soybeans provides the plant’s nutritional needs, helping the plant grow quickly in all aspects. Soybeans are rich in nitrogen. Meanwhile, the tiger tongue plant requires a lot of nitrogen for its growth process. You can water fermented soybean water for the tiger tongue plant to promote the growth of branches and leaves, stimulate flower blooming.

Making fermented soybean water is very simple. First, you need to soak the soybeans in water overnight for the beans to soften. Then, put the soybeans in a pot and cook until they become soft. Crush the soybeans and let them cool.

Put the boiled soybeans and water into a closed container and then add water to almost fill the container (water and beans occupy about 70-80% of the container’s volume). When fermenting, the mixture will produce gas, if you pour too much water, it will overflow.

Keep the soybean container in a cool place, and open the lid every 3 days to let the gas escape. After about 2 months, the fermented soybeans are ready to use.

Note that you should not directly water the tiger tongue plant with fermented soybean water, but dilute it with clean water in a 1:50 ratio to avoid burning the plant’s roots. Water the plant with this mixture once every two months.

You can use fermented soybean water to water other plants in the house. The process is also the same, dilute with clean water before watering to avoid burning the plant’s roots.

Some other notes when growing tiger tongue plants

– Light

The tiger tongue plant prefers shade. It will thrive in areas with weak sunlight. You should place the plant in areas with less sun. If you place the plant indoors, you can take it outside to sunbathe after 2-3 months, around 7-9 am.

– Fertilizing

The tiger tongue plant will grow vigorously in spring. This is the time when you can fertilize it with a mixture of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium.

– Watering

The tiger tongue plant is a water-loving plant with excellent water retention ability. The plant does not need to be watered regularly. Too much water will cause the plant to rot. It is best to wait for the soil in the pot to dry before watering. Note that you should not water the plant during hot noon to avoid damage.
