Facebook is one of the most popular social media platforms in the world, allowing users to connect and share information with friends and family. However, there are times when we need to temporarily or permanently deactivate our Facebook accounts. So how do you deactivate a Facebook account? This article from FPT Shop will help you understand the concept, process, and considerations when deactivating Facebook.

What you need to know about deactivating Facebook

Before learning how to deactivate Facebook, we need to understand what this concept is and why we need to deactivate a Facebook account.

    Concept of deactivating Facebook

Deactivating Facebook is the process of temporarily or permanently disabling a Facebook account. When an account is deactivated, you will not be able to log in or use any features on Facebook until you reactivate the account.

    Why deactivate a Facebook account?

There are several reasons why we may need to deactivate a Facebook account, such as:

    • Wanting to temporarily stop using Facebook to focus on work or personal life.
    • Concerns about being hacked or having personal information leaked on Facebook.
    • Not wanting to continue using Facebook for personal reasons or being tired of the negative effects of social media.

Consequences of deactivating a Facebook account

Deactivating a Facebook account can have both positive and negative consequences for users.

    Positive consequences

    • Helps reduce pressure and stress in life by no longer having to follow and update information on Facebook.
    • Protects personal information and avoids information leakage on social media.
    • Allows for more effective focus on work or personal life.

    Negative consequences

    • Loss of connection with friends and family on Facebook.
    • Unable to use Facebook features such as posting, messaging, or interacting with others.
    • Cannot recover the account after permanent deletion.

    How to temporarily deactivate Facebook

Temporarily deactivating Facebook is the most common option when you want to temporarily stop using the social media platform. This process will temporarily make you anonymous on Facebook, and no one can find or contact you on the platform.

How to deactivate Facebook on mobile

Step 1: Open the Facebook app on your phone and log in to your personal Facebook account.

Step 2: Tap the three horizontal lines icon in the top right corner of the screen and select the gear icon in the top right corner of the screen. Alternatively, you can scroll down and select Settings & Privacy > Settings.

Step 3: Select Personal Information. On the Account Central page, tap on Personal Information.

Step 4: Choose Ownership and Control > Deactivate or Delete.

Step 5: Select the account you want to deactivate.

Step 6: Tap on Deactivate Account > Tap Continue. You will need to enter your Facebook account password.

Step 7: Choose the reason why you want to deactivate the account > press Continue.

Step 8: Read the terms and information about deactivating a Facebook account carefully. You will have an option to Reactivate Your Account within a maximum of 7 days if you change your mind or only want to temporarily deactivate. Press Continue.

Step 9: Confirm deactivating the Facebook account by selecting Deactivate My Account.

    Frequently asked questions

There are several reasons why someone might want to deactivate their Facebook account. These include taking a break from social media to focus on work or personal life, concerns about privacy and hacking, or simply wanting to distance themselves from the negative effects of social media.

    Question:

On the positive side, it can reduce stress and pressure by removing the need to constantly follow and update your Facebook information. It also protects your privacy and allows you to focus more effectively on other areas of your life. However, deactivating your account can result in a loss of connection with friends and family on Facebook, and you won’t be able to use any of Facebook’s features during the deactivation period. Additionally, if you permanently delete your account, you won’t be able to recover it.

    Question:
To temporarily deactivate your Facebook account on your mobile device, follow these steps:

    1. Open the Facebook app and log into your personal account.
    2. Tap the three horizontal lines in the top right corner, then select the gear icon (or scroll down and select Settings & Privacy > Settings).
