My wife and I have been married for nearly three years. Honestly, when we first got married, I wasn’t ready to have children yet. I always wanted to build my career first, establish a solid foundation, and then think about starting a family. However, my wife unexpectedly became pregnant, and I accepted it as part of life’s journey.
Since our son was born, my wife has dedicated most of her time to our family, while I’ve been immersed in work. I’ve been driven to earn as much as possible, to succeed, to make my parents proud, and to provide a better life for our family. Overtime and business trips have become a regular part of my routine.
My direct supervisor is a woman, 15 years my senior. She’s divorced and raising her daughter alone. I’ve always admired her resilience and strength. It’s not easy for a woman to build a successful career while also shouldering the responsibilities of motherhood.
Perhaps it was this admiration that led me to let my guard down.

Last week, my boss and I went on a business trip. On the final day, after securing a major contract, we celebrated with drinks. I had quite a bit to drink, and so did she.
That night, in a haze of alcohol and misplaced emotions, I made the biggest mistake of my life. We spent the night together.
The next morning, I woke up filled with regret. All I could think about was my wife and son waiting for me at home.
Before I could figure out how to face her, my boss took the initiative. She placed a stack of money in front of me and said:
“I’ve actually liked you for a long time. If you’re willing, we can be together. I won’t ask you to divorce your wife, and I’ll provide additional financial support each month.”
I was stunned. I pushed the money back toward her and replied:
“I’m sorry. What happened last night was a mistake. I don’t want to do anything that would betray my wife and child.”
She didn’t say anything more. On the way back, all I could think about was how to make it up to my family. I vowed to bury this mistake and live better. But when I arrived home that evening, I discovered that life had an even bigger shock in store for me.
It was late, and I assumed my wife and son were asleep, so I quietly opened the door. As I approached the bedroom, I overheard my wife whispering to our son:
“Be a good boy, sweetheart. Grow up quickly, and then we’ll join your father overseas. I’ll save money so we can prepare for our future together.”
I froze, every word hitting me like a thunderbolt. I immediately pushed open the door and asked my wife sternly:
“What did you just say? Which father? Explain yourself right now.”
My wife turned pale. After much hesitation, she finally broke down and confessed everything.

Before she met me, she was in love with another man. His family opposed their relationship because he was poor, and they broke up in heartbreak. Later, he moved abroad to work.
She then met me, and we got married. But shortly before our wedding, her ex-boyfriend unexpectedly returned. They met again and slept together. That’s when she became pregnant. He promised that once he was settled abroad, he would come back for her and their child.
So, the son I’ve been loving for the past seven months isn’t actually mine.
I felt as though someone had squeezed the air out of my chest. All the late nights spent preparing bottles, changing diapers, and taking him to the doctor flashed before my eyes, leaving me both heartbroken and furious. What hurt the most was realizing that my wife had never truly forgotten her ex. She married me but always hoped to reunite with another man.
That night, I didn’t sleep. I drove aimlessly until dawn, my mind in chaos. In my desperation, I texted my boss.
The next evening, we met at a bar. I told her everything. After listening, she sighed and said:
“She never truly loved you.”
I remained silent. She continued:
“That woman married you but still thinks about someone else. Even the child isn’t yours. If I were you, I’d divorce her.”
Her words weighed heavily on my heart. After a moment, she looked me straight in the eye:
“You’re still young, and you can start over. If you want, I’m here for you.”
I didn’t know how to respond. Just days ago, I felt like a betrayer for spending the night with her. Yet now, I’ve discovered that I, too, have been betrayed.
On one side is a marriage built on lies, and on the other is a woman offering me a new beginning. But the more I think about it, the more trapped I feel. Can I forgive my wife? Should I divorce her? Or is all of this the price I must pay for my own mistake? I still haven’t found the answer.
