According to the book “Nine Lords, Thirteen Kings of the Nguyen Dynasty,” during his exile in Algeria, King Ham Nghi became familiar with the art of painting and became a talented painter.

According to historical records, in 1944, King Ham Nghi passed away in Algeria. His remains were initially buried there but in 1962, they were reburied in the tomb area in the village of Thonac, within the castle of Princess Nhu Mai in the Dordogne province of France.
